Diarmait
Diarmait is credited with the authorship of ‘Celtair Díchill’ (‘The cloak of concealment’) a hymn of the lorica class which invokes divine protection, asking that the supplicant be concealed from danger. There is no record of the year of his death, which probably took place around the end of the sixth century – on 10 January, under which date he is commemorated in all the martyrologies. Inis Clothrann, for which three later abbots are recorded (Sinech, d. 720; Echaid, d. 785; and Curoi, d. 871), was re-established as an Augustinian foundation in the twelfth century.
