Caínchomrac (d. 791), bishop of the church of St Cainnech (qv) (d. 600/03) at Finnglas (Finglas, Co. Dublin) and confessor to Dublittir (qv), one of the founders of the Céli Dé movement, is known from a couple of annalistic references to his obit (given incorrectly in AFM as 786). Other mentions of him are in the Old and Modern Irish versions of ‘The customs [or rule] of the monastery of Tallaght’, a Céli Dé document. The text states that he belonged to the Dési; it also relates an anecdote of his reproving Dublittir for speaking harshly to an old woman who had sought refuge for the night in the nun's hostel at Finglas. Dublittir thereupon agreed to compensate the woman for the insult and to perform a penance of Caínchomrac's choosing. He is doubtless identical with one of two Caínchomracs commemorated in the Martyrology of Tallaght at 29 June and 23 July.
