The Grangegorman Histories project has curated a selection of over sixty DIB biographies of men and women connected to the Grangegorman area and institutions.
The biographies, which will be shared over the coming weeks, include a broad range of figures: from Francis Johnston (1760/61–1829), architect of the original ‘Richmond Lunatic Asylum’ to Billy in the Bowl (1780s) a notorious character associated with Grangegorman and the surrounding area.
Find ‘Grangegorman lives’ on the Royal Irish Academy website or follow the roll-out of the biographies on Twitter.
Grangegorman Histories is a public history programme of research and shared discovery of the Grangegorman site and surrounding communities.
It is a project of Dublin City Council, Grangegorman Development Agency, HSE, Local Communities, National Archives, Royal Irish Academy and TU Dublin.
